Alex Georgakopoulos, MFT #41883

Alex is CEO and Family Therapist at Coyote Coast.

My name is Alex Georgakopoulos.  I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and a Principle Partner, having joined and helped to grow Coyote Coast since our first year of service in 2006. I received a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 1995.

We have arrived at our 20 year Coyote Coast anniversary with deep gratitude, as we have been entrusted to support teenagers, young adults, and families in transitions home from residential programs, as well as in many life cycle transitions.

During this time, we have developed our family therapy model around core principles of active listening, compassionate inquiry, affective regulation, core emotional processing, and collaborative problem solving. We believe in the strength and foundation of family, with the goal to facilitate and restore corrective emotional experiences within families.

Within my own personal work, I have studied my family origins, to integrate my strengths and fallibilities, to see better paths forward as a partner and a parent.  I see the importance of investigating these stories and core beliefs, not to change them, but rather to befriend them, as they can both serve and enhance our parenting and family relationships.

Within my therapeutic work, I work to build safety for all members, and blend Hakomi principles and parts work to explore family dynamic and narratives, ultimately to create these corrective emotional experiences within the security of the family therapy.

In the past 5 years, I have incorporated years of personal Men's Group work into individual work with men, to deepen connections to mens' inner worlds and their inherent sources of wisdom.

As we mark these 20 years, we continue to hold this work as a sacred.
